Edwardo Portillos, Ph.D.

Dr. Portillos joined the UCCS Sociology Department in the 2004-2005 academic year.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder and graduate work at Arizona State University. Research interests include youth gangs, police-community relations in Latinx communities, school criminalization, deviance and youth sports, and faculty pay disparity issues. Dr. Portillos has authored several dozen mitigation reports as an expert witness in gang-related capital cases in Arizona and in juvenile transfer cases in Colorado.
